After teaching Photoshop CS4 for one week at The Clearing in Door County, Wisconsin, I had fun stacking a few rocks and then photographing them at Sunset. I did shoot the image with 7 various exposures and then combined the images with Photomatix Pro software. I also added a little grain to the rocks with RealGrain plugin by Imagenomic.

Three shots shot with a Canon G9 while on the Chicago River. This was a unique trip with "4 Jerrys".

I always have to stop and photograph this old barn. Like other barns of this 1800 vintage, it to may soon be gone. The barn is around mile 218 on Interstate 55 North of Bloomington/Normal, IL.

I am still working on finding a simple repeatable toning for B&W and IR images. The image above is now a preset that I made for Lightroom 2 and ACR (Adobe Camera RAW). I can click on the preset and have that same duotone in any B&W image. Compare with the other images.
Working with the outstanding portrait lighting photographer, John Wiet, I tried to simulate the Josef Karsh style of lighting in the digital age. This photographer was a great model.

I am always looking for the perfect colors for toning of monochrome prints. Here I used Pantone solid color - coated 7 C. I really appreciate your input MAX. The top print is a Tritone or three separate color layers.

What a great place for HDR. I got two images captured before the rain started. The old rusted train works also as a converted black and white image.

Caught this Bison feeding at the Wildlife Prairie Park near Peoria. I was up close, but elevated where he could not trample me or my camera. This pseudo HDR of the head shot brought out some of the coloration of the large aminal.

There is not really such a thing as a Black Eagle, but there is no such thing in reality as a monochrome scene. Black and White Photography is a creation or an artistic rendering of a scene that was viewed by an individual and changed into a black and white photograph. Years ago there was no option of color photography. Now black and white or monochrome images have become more of an artistic statement. It still is a less expensive way to show or display photographs using a one color ink printing process.
